Weekend.

Hello lovelies!

I hope you all had a fantabulous weekend! I can say that though a little slow it provided a ton of laughter! It started out with me being a bum. There I said it. A B.U.M. Bum. But either way it ended with me and one of my bestie's, Em from over at Pink-Lilies going on a Bear Hunt. Yep you read that right. A Bear Hunt. As in this book from my childhood. Basically I had a project where I had to act out this book. So I called up Em and said what are you doing? Oh? You wanna go on a bear hunt with me? Suhweeeet! Cause that's what I wanted to do with you! So we went on a Bear Hunt. And of course we made a video. And it was long. And then of course when we got to actually filming the movie the camera battery was nearly dead. But that's alright our video? Soooo worth it!

So for your lovely viewing pleasure... our video :) Enjoy!

How'd you lovelies spend your weekend?

xoxo,
Lo

Happy Hump Day Everyone!

Here's a Hump Day quote for the middle of your week:

When one door of happiness closes, another opens, but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us.
- Helen Keller

Today is Tuesday

Andddddd this is the view from my window...

Yuck. Right? It's been rainy/dreary/gross for days now. Whatever happened to the Sunshine State? What ever happened to this?

Oh well. I have to say I'm enjoying the cozy-ness it's creating. And the strong urge I have to curl up and read a book.. yeah I think I'll do that. I mean the homework will still be there tomorrow right?

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

Blog Crush Love.

I really enjoy reading Annie's little blog. Today she had a wonderful post about friends. Friends that are good and friends that are bad. She talked a little bit about what makes a good friendship and I have to say that some of the things she said totally made sense to me. Check out her post here

My bestest friend wanted to get some so we went on an adventure andddd Waaala! She ended up buying some.. and making me try some on. I have to say I'm kind of thinking about them now. Shock.

Prayers today for my family, guys. My "Grandma" Schmidt passed away last night. If you could keep everyone in your prayers that would be greatly appreciated.

Prayers Appreciated

Sometimes things don't always go quite as you expect. Sometimes the people you call family aren't even really your family at all. I grew up hearing that second statement. The common phrase is "You can choose your friends but you can't choose your family" but I would really have to differ. My whole life the people who I called "Grandma" and "grandpa" and "aunt" and "uncle" and who took me into their homes, and made sure we had enough food and who made me laugh and watched videos with me weren't always my blood family. They were my mom's best friends who loved her and considered her a daughter of their own.

I grew up hearing stories about how Grandma Schmidt fed my mom through Grad School. How all my mom ever had in her fridge was a bottle of ketchup and a bottle of mustard til it was Sunday dinner at the Schmidt's. Grandma Schmidt made sure that allllll the leftovers were sent home with my mom in Grad School so she could eat. Many years later when my parents divorced and my Dad left she was again feeding our family. All of the leftovers suddenly were "too much for just the 2 of us!" and "oh we would never eat this!" so that we could take it all home without feeling bad.

It never mattered to her that we weren't really her grandkids. Every time we saw her it was "hiiiiiiiii" and a hug and a kiss. She never let anyone treat us differently, like we weren't a part of the family. We were. She said so.

And then it's all gone. One strange phone call where my little sister has her serious voice on and it's not a joke. Sometimes I forget to be thankful for the people that have touched my life and the lives of those closest to me. What would things have been like if my mom had never meet Aunt Cookie? If we'd never known Grandma Schmidt? How much I wish that I had said something about love. About Jesus. About a Savior who loves us so so much that he gave his whole life for us. What if? It's a question that I fear will be haunting me until God gets ahold of me and takes away the fear. I loved Grandma Schmidt. And now my mind is like a movie reel where all the images are wonderful memories of her touching my life. And then there are tears. And to think I've always considered myself not really a crier. Ha. I guess things change.

I love you Grandma Schmidt. And to Aunt Cookie and the whole family I am praying for you all so hard and I hope God can bring you a Peace that Surpasses Understanding.

Saturday Morning.

This morning I woke up, made some breakfast and then got to talk to my dearest momma for a whole uninterrupted 30 minutes! It was aboslutely glorious. I love my momma. It's gonna be a good Saturday, I can just tell!

:)

What are all you lovelies doing with your Saturday?

Awkward and Awesome Thursday!

So this idea was nabbed from the lovely Syd over at The Daybook. Every Thursday she posts some awkward's and awesome's. Sooooo here we go!

Awkward:
- Running into people you used to be best friends with on campus. (key word being "used") yikes!
- Having meaningful, heartfelt conversations with the girls on my floor... in the bathroom (really?! it couldn't happen in a place where I'm NOT wearing a bathrobe!?)
- People assuming that any guy you happen to be talking to or eating with on campus you're with... sorry folks but ewwwww!
- Walking into the wrong classroom... when it's FULL of people... no worries, I haven't been at this school for, ya know 3 years or anything...

Awesome:
- Having wonderful night's with amazing friends and making the most lovely cupcakes with homemade icing YESSS! (which I didn't even get a picture of!)
- Watching "The Social Network" with said friends, wooowza! Talk about crazy stuff!
- Going to a Basketball game! Huuurraayyy!
- Signing up for a spring break cruise... to COZUMEL with some of absolutely the most amazing people in the world!

It's a Birthday Kind of Day!

Today is a special day. Today is the very day that B, one of my oldest and dearest friends turns the magical 21! As you can see from the pictures we've been friends for NINE years, which considering we were 12 when we met and are now 20 and 21 we've changed a ton, so 9 seems like a pretty big number.

Last night we talked on the phone at exactly 12am for our annual birthday phone date, and it absolutely astounds me how we have grown up so much yet it feels like nothing at all has changed in our friendship. We talked about the "good 'ole days" and how different things are and how much fun we used to have. And how horribly olllllddddd we are becoming when we know that we really aren't old at all. We also discussed all of our childhood dreams we have yet to fulfill.. such as travel, become CEO of a walmart, and write our own rap album. (We were such cool kids!) I can't wait to see how different things are in 10 years and what new adventures we have!

I can't wait to see how much more change happens as the years get bigger! I wish I could be there with you tonight on your big 21st! I feel like it's something we've talked about forever.

"Here's a little something from me to you. One is pretty cute and new and the other, well it might make you kinda blue. And no matter what we go through, what we achieve and what we do, Please know that I will always, always, always be here for be here for you."

Happy Happy Birthday B!

Love always and forever,

L.

Lots of Thoughts.

So last night I went to First Friday which is something my local church does on the first friday of every month. Sooo anyways, last night I went to hear James Barnett speak. I got the facebook invite and had never heard of him so I did what every good 21st century gal would do, I googled him.

James Barnett is a twenty something who started went on a mission trip to Nicaragua to work in the dump there, where people live and work (in an actual dump). While there he met a woman named Mrs. Ruby who revealed to him that obedience is not based upon what you don't do, it's based upon what you do do. Upon his return to the U.S. he sold all of his belongings, quite his fancy business job and bought a van. He took this van and went out onto the streets and lived with what Jesus called the "least of these". Through this he also started a non-profit called, "Clothe Your Neighbor as Yourself" that raises money to buy clothing for the homeless who cannot afford clothes themselves. To help people make a new start.

Hearing him speak was beyond amazing. I was so convicted and so thoughtful. I tend to think that what I do has such a severe and meaningful impact all the time. When in reality? It doesn't. Not at all. Okay well I shouldn't say not at all because what I'm doing does matter but I'm selfish. I like to think I'm doing something great and meaningful but I'm not. I am so selfish and concerned with my life and what I'm doing. Hearing him speak was amazing and it definitely put things into perspective. The purpose in my life is not to get straight A's, not to be the very best at school. My life has a greater purpose, to love like God loved. And yes, right now that involves school. But that doesn't make school the most important thing. It just means that the people I'm around now while IN school are the people I need to be around now. He also said something that I thought was so interesting, he made the point that giving someone food or money doesn't necessarily help them, getting to know someone helps them.

Just something to think about tonight I guess, while I'm being thoughtful and artsy and (attempting) to redecorate my room!

If you wanna read more about James or his non-profit follow his blog here. Enjoy! :)

Hello This is Me.

This video never ever ever ceases to make me laugh. I quote it an unnecessary about of times everyday and am always laughing. With some of my lovely cohort girls we even made our very own Marcel the Shells! Mine is really too cute for words. See the picture above of all our Marcel the Shell's!

I couldn't figure out how to put it below these words. If anyone has any knowledge feel free to share! :)

Not quite Reality.

So i'm cured! Well maybe not quite, but I'm back at school and back in class. I did promise my dear momma that I wouldn't be social just yet and have been back in my room and going to bed early every night this week! Here here! I'm kind of proud of myself...now if only I could be productive with the homework that is quickly and quietly building up.

I've also noticed since i've been back on campus that there are a TON of people at this here school. I mean i've always heard that we have 50,000 students (that's JUST STUDENTS! ekkkk!) on campus but after Christmas Holidays and then a week of quarantine there just seems to be a ton of people on campus. That picture is of my actual campus... in just one of the plazas. so. many. people. my poor little eyeballs can barely take it all in!

Oh well, back to Reality I guess.

Happy New Year?

Last semester I really wanted to start a blog. So of course it become my new, exciting, (and wonderfully achievable) new year's resolution.

Leave it to me to gather a new new year's resolution along the way. Recovering from the flu. Lovely. The flu. I've gotten a flu shot every year my entire life. And this year I become that lucky 1% of people that defies the odds and still gets the flu, regardless of receiving the flu shot. yippee! or not.

Oh well at least this flu bug brought on an entire extra week of home and relaxation with the family.

Happy 2011 Everyone!
